About the Presenter
Fr. Bill Damroth (affectionately known as Padre) is currently the Pastor at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Newburgh, NY. It must be divine intervention that he has continually found himself serving God at yet another St. Francis Parish. He previously served at St. Francis Church in Mt. Kisco, NY.
St. Francis of Assisi 800 years ago developed a reputation of both holiness to the path of God and a respect for all his animal kingdom. Fr. Bill’s love of animals reflects that of St. Francis. He is passionate about the care and protection of all animals. Therefore it is not by accident he finds himself carrying on that mission by maintaining the many bird-feeders on the grounds of the parish that attract the many species bringing sounds of birdsong. He believes all the animal kingdom are gifts from God. He is an active supporter of the SPCA, especially the “No Kill Policy” in New Windsor. He particularly loves cats and dogs, some have been adopted and live at the parish.
His favorite baseball team is the San Diego Padres, whose team logo is a Franciscan friar swinging a baseball bat. Fr. Bill says “God speaks to me through St. Francis, as I hope to speak to you on this retreat.”
This silent, directed retreat invites participants to refresh their spirits and experience greater intimacy with God with days of rest and relaxation. Through a daily private meeting with an experienced spiritual director who will listen deeply and help retreatants be attentive to their unique stories, retreatants will allow God the hospitality of their attention. Daily liturgy will be available.
