An event every week that begins at 10:30 am on Thursday, repeating until June 20, 2019
From the time we bring our little ones into the world, till the time they leave the nest, ours is a task that requires a full soul, a steady vision, and a generous heart. But it’s not easy. Life is busy, challenges are many, and at times we feel alone or unsure.
Poetry—both the whimsical and the profound—can help us make our way. Tea is the perfect pairing, for simple joy and mini islands of rest.
Come be refreshed. No experience with reading or discussing poetry is necessary. This is poetry for life, joy, solace, and playfulness. Each week throughout the series we’ll explore a different core theme, with a few mischievous and unexpected selections added into the mix.
A complimentary copy of The Joy of Poetry: How to Keep, Save & Make Your Life With Poems is our gift to you, when you join us for this fun and lovely series of shared poetry reading experiences. Register early, this program is limited to 10 participants.
Date & Time: Thursday, June 6, 13, and 20, from 10:30 am – 12:00 pm
Presenter: Laura Barkat
Fee: $10 per session
About the Presenter:
Laura Barkat is the managing editor of Tweetspeak Poetry, where whimsy and fun abound—around the topics of poetry, writing, and lifelong literacy growth. Her poetry has appeared on NPR, as well as at Virginia Quarterly Review and The Best American Poetry. She has served as a books, parenting, and education contributor at The Huffington Post blog and is the author of six books for grown-ups, including the popular title Rumors of Water: Thoughts on Creativity & Writing, which reveals the secrets of her writing journey—a journey she has joyfully shared with her daughters since they were little children. She loves color and has painted her dining room sunset yellow, because it makes her happy.
