The Dominican Sisters of Hope and their sponsored ministry, The Center at Mariandale, have partnered with Red Road Reclamation through a relationship with the Stockbridge-Munsee Band of Mohican. Red Road Reclamation is a Native‑led spiritual and cultural healing organization that seeks to restore balance, identity, and connection through ceremony, ancestral teachings, language, land‑based immersion, and intergenerational relationships.

Through meetings and retreats at Mariandale, the Indigenous Youth Homeland Immersion programs of Red Road Reclamation enjoy an ideal setting, as the retreat center offers housing, meeting space, meals, natural areas, and support staff needed to host youth, elders, and leaders. An advantage of the location is that the program offers day trips to other ancestral settings, including New York City, Long Island and various Westchester sites.

The Dominican Sisters of Hope serve as a fiscal sponsor and provide financial support for the immersion programs. They acknowledge that Mariandale is located on the ancestral homeland of the Lenape people and are committed to healing and justice for Indigenous communities. The Sisters support the RRR mission of nurturing wholeness and interconnectedness, honoring the Creator and all of creation, and carrying forward the responsibilities left to our generation for the next seven generations.

These youth immersions help to restore healing, belonging, and cultural grounding through intergenerational, Indigenous-led experiences. Indigenous populations explore their history and culture from practices rooted in ceremony, storytelling, language, and connection to the land.

With the Dominican Sisters of Hope, New York Community Trust’s Mortimer Fund for Native American Children has supported and helped to expand these immersion programs.

Supporting the Dominican Sisters of Hope allows us to continue and expand our support for Red Road Reclamation. Your support will help bolster and restore a long-neglected community and people, who still suffer with intergenerational trauma and loss of cultural identity.
