Open Arms for Refugees began in late 2021 after the fall of Kabul and removal of American troops from Afghanistan. Since then, Open Arms has helped many refugees, primarily from Afghanistan, but also Columbia, build new lives in Ossining and other nearby communities. The most fundamental need in these times of transition is safe and secure housing — a place to call home. The Center at Mariandale has been a generous partner of Open Arms in this incredibly important capacity, offering shelter to about a dozen new neighbors and steady employment on the grounds to two young men, who remain employed here today. The Center is proud to support the work of Open Arms as a community partner and to honor them today.
