Mindfulness for Christians Series

Mindfulness for Christians is a new series that offers practical teachings and meditation techniques for helping us get in touch with “the peace of God that surpasses all understanding.” By cultivating loving awareness of our thoughts and experiences, we can better navigate everyday difficulties and experience God’s presence in our lives. Prayer, contemplative practices, and reflection will be interwoven in this exploration of the gift of the present moment. These classes are for beginners, and for experienced meditators who want to explore mindfulness from a Christian perspective.

May 12: “Be still and know that I am God: Cultivating inner peace”

May 26: “A ‘temple of the Holy Spirit’: Experiencing God through our bodies”

June 9: “Do not be anxious about anything:  Dealing with difficult emotions”

June 23: “Self-compassion: Loving ourselves as God loves us”

Dates & Times: Tuesdays, May 12, 26, June 9 & 23 from 7-8:30pm

Presenter: Christina Leaño

Fee: $20 per session or $65 for the series (students of all ages free)

About the Presenter:

Christina Leaño is a meditation teacher, spiritual director, retreat leader, and faith-based activist. She has been studying and practicing contemplative practices in both Buddhist and Christian traditions for over 20 years, including 3 years in a cloistered Cistercian monastery.  Christina is trained in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction through the University of San Diego Center of Mindfulness, is a graduate of the Community Dharma Leaders program through Spirit Rock Meditation Center, and holds an MA in Theology from the Graduate Theological Union. www.christinaleano.net
